It’s the holidays, so what better time than to post a story about a scary tree? The lonely one down in New Zealand’s farthest reaches has probably never been decorated, though.
The Mind of Theseus
Halloween has lost all meaning to me at the moment, but I’ll keep up a tradition and post a story today. My current condition has me thinking about my identity and sense of self a lot, and wondering where the blurred line is that separates who we were and who we might become. This story has some messed up implications…
Dead Pines
Very excited to share this one, even in my pitiful state. Guess I’ll keep on trucking even as ghosts gnaw at my brain.
I never expected the Dead Mall story to get a prequel and a sequel, but I’m glad it did. It definitely earned a solid ending in my book.
The Crypt Under Denver
I needed some time to gather my thoughts and write this one…
We’ve ventured into the heart of darkness.
Sick
Not feeling well…
Probably has to do with something big we did recently.
Apologies that this isn’t a big update, but wanted to let everyone know that we’re working on something. Hopefully I last long enough to share the story.
Theories
I finally filled up the theories page. Am I crazy? You might think so after reading through it. But either way, I think I’ve made a good, if not rambling, summary of the events and elements of the main series.
Daunting Depths
Halloween again? Yeah, sure, I can dig up another old tale just in time this year.
How about this one, about a haunted/cursed/evil/forbidden arcade cabinet that only showed up in select places in the American Pacific Northwest in the mid to late ’90s?
Too bad Sleepy Pines was on the opposite side of the country. I could totally see it in a dark corner of the mall’s arcade.
Orphan Source
Another new story! 1980s, evil children, radiological incident, buried by the government. Interested yet?
Sleepy Pines
I know, you wouldn’t expect the stories in “One-Offs” to have connections with any other tales. But there is a prequel to Dead Mall out there that just has to be shared!
Malls really do make good settings for scary stories, don’t they?
The Rendering of Mt. Louisina
Have I got a trip for you today. This obscure story, told from a 90s message board, was just begging to be added to the “one-off” archives here. Whatever happened to Mt. Louisina in Colorado, USA? The secrets are in the posts…
