One-Offs
You want more stories? Here are some from my collection that have nothing to do with the series. Some of these tales are posted in obscure places and have become really hard to find, so I’m giving them a safe place here.
I Explored Area 51 Using Astral Projection
With one of those trendy “explain the story in the title” Creepypasta titles, what more needs to be said? Actually, this is something I’ve sometimes thought about myself. If you could astral project your consciousness anywhere, wouldn’t you want to see a few forbidden places? Just watch your back when you venture out…
Dead Mall
Dead mall exploration is all the rage with some people. But the 2013 footage for Sleepy Pines’ exploration was only just found. This mind-bending scary tale will show you the limits of nostalgia’s (and perfume’s) appeal.
Building a Better Cat
Genetic tampering always makes for a good story that demonstrates the foley of man. This time, some guy decides to give cats eyebrows and a taste for sweetness. That’s not so bad, right?
Spaceship Earth “Lost Episode”
Hey, you remember that cool public access kid show that played for a while in the mid 2000s in the Quad Cities region of the States, right? Spaceship Earth? Ring a bell? … No? Well, that’s okay. You can still read this story about something that happened during production. Complete WITH PICTURES!
The Rendering of Mt. Louisina
You know the deal. Odd things go down in a small American town, and we’re just now hearing about it. Only, this one may have a twist or two more than you might expect, and it’s told from and immortalized by the members of an old BBS from 1996.
Sleepy Pines
A prequel? In a One-Off category? Eh, sure, why not? This story focuses on “Dead Mall”‘s Sleepy Pines Mall, back in its glory days, and offers another look at the strange occurrences and people that made the enigmatic shopping plaza what it was. Note that this – is – a prequel, so it’s best to read the original first.
Orphan Source
This cleverly titled story is about both orphans, and loose radioactive material. A forgotten incident from the 1980s that happened in Colombia, South America is told through discovered letters. Not every unnatural horror is supernatural.
Daunting Depths
Imagine stumbling upon an early 3D arcade cabinet in 1996 that has you navigate the pitch-black bottom of the ocean, all while the unseen thing chasing you makes you feel so scared that you could have a heart attack. Would you feed it a quarter? This gaming journalist did!
Dead Pines
The finale of the Dead Mall trilogy. A lone security guard working in the building where a beloved mall once stood faces off against the dark history of the local land, and ends up live-streaming a night to remember. Some good memories should stay buried.
The Mind of Theseus
Digital immortality is great, but the problem is that pesky “it’s not you, it’s your copy” problem. Leave it to some scientists in a bunker somewhere to come up with a fix. Surely nothing could go wrong. For fans of body/tortured-consciousness horror (who are you people?).
The Tree on Campbell Island
This smaller story is about a nice visit to Campbell Island, a lonely piece of rock in New Zealand’s far south, and the unlikely home of the world’s most remote tree. Seeing as how this is one of those lost journal stories, something bad might’ve happened…
